Abengoa (MCE: ABG/P:SM), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructure, energy and water sectors, has recently been awarded 1st and 3rd place in the FEM (The Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company) Annual Health & Safety Awards.

Abengoa was awarded the 1st and 3rd place in High Risk Large and Small Employment categories respectively, both for Cape region.

FEM insures employers against their liabilities under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 1993 (COIDA) and has more than 5,000 policy holders, all of which participates in the FEM Annual Health & Safety Awards.

Factors that was assessed by FEM to determine the winners of the awards included:

1. 1. Accident Frequency Rates.
2. 2. Claims to Loss Ratio (Calculated proportionate to Policy Premiums).
3. 3. Good Health and Safety Systems.
4. 4. No Fatalities.

These achievements are the result of the great work and commitment shown by all the parties involved, from the top management to the staff walk floor.
