Abengoa, awarded for its railway electrification project in Lithuania

• The "Planification Leader Award" recognizes the achievements of Abengoa and Elecnor, its partner in the Vilnius - Klaipėda (Lithuania) railway project, in 2022.
• This is a key project for the development of the railway sector in this country as it is one of the main axes for passenger and freight traffic in the Baltic countries.

March 29, 2023 - Abengoa, an international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainable development in the infrastructure, energy and water sectors, through its company Inabensa, and in consortium with Elecnor, has received the "Planification Leader Award" at the annual conference for its main suppliers of the Lithuanian railway infrastructure company, LTG Infra, thanks to the achievements in 2022 in the planning of the railway electrification project Vilnius - Klaipėda section (Draugystės St.).

The scope of the project includes the design and electrification of more than 730 km of railway lines on the Vilnius railway node and the section from Kaišiadorys to Klaipėda, crossing the country from east to west. The works also include the design and construction of new traction substations, the adaptation of existing ones, the connection of them to the national electricity grid, the design and construction of new auto-transformer stations, as well as the adjustment and extension of the signaling, communications and control network along the entire route.

This award reaffirms Inabensa's commitment in Lithuania, participating in the modernization of the standards and technological upgrading of its railway network, especially in the electrification of one of the main passenger and cargo routes in the Baltic countries, which is key to the development of the railway sector in this country.
