May 9th, 2019 - Abengoa (MCE: ABG/P:SM), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructures, energy and water sectors, has participated in the launch of the Scarabeus project, awarded by the European Union in the European Union in the context of the Horizon 2020 program.
The Scarabeus Project, whose objective is to develop and implement supercritical cycles of carbon dioxide in concentrated solar thermal plants that allow the cost reduction of this type of energy, held its kick-off meeting in Brussels last April. Abengoa, as well as the other project partners (five universities and four companies in total), had the opportunity to meet all the participants, methodologies and procedures and innovation actions of the H2020 program.
The scope of Scarabeus is the reduction of the CAPEX and OPEX of the energy produced in concentrated solar power plants by about 30 % and 35 % respectively, thanks to the validation of an innovative power cycle, which will improve the strategic positioning of the concentration technology in the energy market.
