November 13th – Abengoa (MCE: ABG/P:SM), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructure, energy and water sectors, celebrated today 50 years of activity in Argentina, through its subsidiary Teyma Abengoa, which was founded on this day in 1968.
Omar Alberto Ramírez, chairman of Teyma Abengoa, wanted to celebrate this day and "remember and thank all the people who have been part of this company and who work in it day by day, providing their effort and dedication in all their offices and projects", with the goal of Teyma Abengoa “to continue being a leading company in its sector and accompanying the country in the processes of change, participating in the most important projects in Argentina, being a leader in power transmission and to continue on the path to be so in infrastructure and water projects".
Teyma Abengoa was established in 1968 under the name Mellor Abengoa, although shortly after, it was renamed Abengoa Electrical and Mechanical Techniques, an acronym from which the name Teyma was born.
Initially, the company was focused on the design and assembly of industrial plants, however in a short time it became one of the leading transmission and distribution companies with more than 1,500 km of transmission lines and more than 25 substations built.
In addition, since the creation of Teyma, other Abengoa subsidiaries have been established in South America, as Chile and Uruguay.

Likewise, Teyma Abengoa has continued to develop large projects in different cities across the country, such as the 500 kV interconnection in Coronda River - Rosario Oeste in the Province of Santa Fe, the 500 kV transformer stations in Vivoratá, Buenos Aires, and currently others in 25 de Mayo, Buenos Aires, and the Altiplano in Jujuy, in the northwest of the country.
Teyma Abengoa has also developed large infrastructure projects for renewable metallurgical industries, the electromechanical assembly of a substation and the line section for the wind farm that Aluar Aluminio Argentino S.A. develops in the city of Puerto Madryn and the installation of a fish transfer plant in the Yacyretá hydroelectric dam as well as important works for mining and cement companies and other industries.
