Abengoa awarded the engineering and construction of two new power transmission lines, a substation and the extension of an existing line in Chile

November 16, 2015 – Abengoa (MCE: ABG.B/P SM /NASDAQ: ABGB), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has been awarded the engineering and construction work for two new power transmission lines, a substation and the extension of an existing line in Chile, in contracts worth more than US$ 180 million.

The first project, from the country’s National Energy Commission, is the engineering and construction work for the 150 km line that will connect the IX and X regions in Chile. The project, which includes construction of a substation and a 20-year concession, will create more than 300 direct jobs during the construction phase.

The second project consists of the construction of a substation in the VI region in Chile and is expected to be completed within 24 months.

The third project is to increase the capacity of a power transmission line between Cardones and Diego de Almagro. The extension work, tendered by Transelec and promoted by the National Energy Commission, is located in the northern part of the country and is scheduled to last for 27 months.

Lastly, the fourth project is to construct and assemble a 20 km power line for Minera Centinela in the II region in northern Chile. The construction phase will last for eight months and is expected to generate employment for up to 120 people.

In all four cases, Abengoa will also be responsible for obtaining the environmental licenses; supplying, assembling and testing the equipment; and commissioning the system. Work on these projects is scheduled to start at the end of 2015.
