Abengoa and Manchester United launch the “Reds Go Green Water Initiative” competition

February 16, 2015

  • Five university students will have the opportunity to take part in the ground water and waste water treatment project that Abengoa will carry out at Manchester United’s grounds.
  • Abengoa has been the Official Sustainable Technology Partner of Manchester United since October.

February 16, 2015.- Abengoa (MCE: ABG.B/P SM /NASDAQ: ABGB), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors and the Official Sustainable Technology Partner of Manchester United, has announced the launch of the “Reds Go Green Water Initiative” in collaboration with Manchester United. In this new competition, the two companies are searching for five university students that are committed to renewable energy and sustainability in sport.

Can sport help to change the way we think about the environment, sustainability and energy use? Manchester United and Abengoa believe that we are all willing to play a part in creating a more sustainable world and have therefore launched the “Reds Go Green” program –which includes the “Red Go Green Water Initiative”– to raise awareness among its fans about caring for the environment and sustainability.

Under the “Reds Go Green Water Initiative” of Abengoa’s and Manchester United’s joint program, Abengoa will select five university students of different nationalities to take part in the water reuse and treatment project that Abengoa will carry out at Manchester United’s grounds (Old Trafford and the Aon Training Center). These five students will work with the project team online; they will take part in the integration phase during a one week period at Abengoa’s R&D center in Seville; and will participate in the final commissioning of the project in Manchester.
