Abengoa presented the award Focus-Abengoa Prize for Sustainable Companies to General electric and Rodamientos Bulnes

• In the category of large companies, Abengoa has presented a second prize to Kaleido, and in the small and medium companies, to Comercial Eléctrica Onubense.
• With this award, which celebrates its second edition, the company publicly recognizes those suppliers who are committed to sustainable development.

March 20, 2014 - Abengoa (MCE: ABG.B / P SM / NASDAQ: ABGB), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainable development in the energy and environment sectors, celebrated today the 2nd awards ceremony of the Focus-Abengoa Prize for Sustainable Company, which went to General Electric (GE) in the large companies category, and Rodamientos Bulnes, in the category of small and medium enterprises.

The presentation of the awards has been assisted by Manuel Sánchez Ortega, CEO of Abengoa, María Victoria Sánchez Jiménez, Abengoa’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mark Little, Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer of General Electric Global Research, and Joaquín Manuel Bulnes Nocea, COO of Rodamientos Bulnes’.

"This award demonstrates the consistency and robustness of Abengoa's and all its suppliers’ commitment to responsible management," remarked Manuel Sánchez Ortega, CEO of Abengoa.

With this event, which first convened in 2011, the company publicly recognizes those suppliers who, with their performance, have demonstrated their commitment and contribution to sustainable development and are a model for other organizations.

From the draft submitted by GE, 'Ecomagination & ecoassessment center of excellence‘, the jury highlighted the creation of values for its customers through process innovation aimed at reducing the consumption of energy, water and CO2.

The company Rodamientos Bulnes has been awarded for its 'Implementation Project of a sustainable strategy for business activity‘, consisting of a roadmap that promotes responsible management in all areas of the company.

In addition, the jury awarded second prizes to Kaleido, in the category of large companies, for the launching of the line of work and research, "Green Logistics - Sustainable Logistics", and to Comercial Eléctrica Onubense in the category of small and medium companies, for the development of the "Building green culture" campaign among its stakeholders.

The jury of the II edition of the Focus- Abengoa Prize for Sustainable Companies was composed by José Borrell Fontelles, Vice President of the Focus- Abengoa Foundation and the International Council of Abengoa, and Abengoa counselor, who acted as chairman; Cristina García Orcoyen, Managing Director of the Entorno Foundation; Germán Granda, CEO of Forética, José Luis Blasco, partner in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability Services for KPMG, and María Mendiluce, Director at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
