Abengoa employees at Campus Palmas Altas donate 600 kg of food to Seville’s most disadvantaged

January 28, 2013

  • Abengoa collaborates with the “La gran recogida” program organized by the Seville Food Bank

Seville, January 28, 2013. Abengoa, the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainable development in the energy and environment sectors, participated in the “La gran recogida” campaign run by the Seville Food Bank, which took place in December in Seville.

Campus Palmas Altas, Abengoa’s headquarters in Seville, was home to various containers for collecting food, into which the company’s employees deposited 600 kg of basic food products. The “La gran recogida” campaign collected more than 350,000 kg of food at a total of 280 locations around the Andalusian capital over the course of two days.

At the end of the donation period, the Food Bank divided up and organized the collected products and subsequently shared them out among the most needy people and families in the province of Seville.

Spain’s economic difficulties have led to an increase in the number of people in vulnerable situations and support for these types of institutions is therefore invaluable. This institution in particular, which has centers across the whole of Spain, was established to recover products that are thrown away on a daily basis, even though they are in perfect condition, in order to distribute them to the most disadvantaged. Thanks to the support of individuals and companies, these institutions fulfill some of the needs of underprivileged people.
