Seville, November 7 2011. Abengoa, the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainable development in the energy and environment sectors, has been selected by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to develop six electricity transmission lines and six substations in the state of Tamaulipas, north east Mexico. The contract will enable electricity to be supplied to neighboring areas in an efficient, sustainable and secure way.
The project, which requires an investment of more than US$ 44 million, will create more than 300 direct jobs in the region and many more indirect jobs in the construction phase. The lines are due to come into operation in April 2013.
Abengoa will be responsible for carrying out the engineering, design, construction and start-up of the whole project, which will cover a total of 85.65 kilometers, ensuring the highest quality in every stage.
Abengoa is currently carrying out an additional four contracts with the CFE, including the Agua Prieta II project, which was awarded in July.
This new project will increase Abengoa’s experience of transmission lines, consolidating its leadership position in this sector in Latin America, where it has developed more than 20,000 km of electricity transport infrastructures.
