Telvent Announces Successful Improvement of One of Australia’s Longest Gas Pipelines

January 13, 2011

January 13, 2011 — Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that it has successfully completed its installation into the master station of the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP). The largest natural gas transmission pipeline in Western Australia, the DBNGP is utilizing Telvent’s OASyS supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology and enterprise Gas Measurement and Analysis System (GMAS) in its daily operations. The solution provides access to real-time data for better decision making and corporate governance.

Telvent’s advanced gas control solution is a distributed platform that seamlessly integrates into corporate applications. It provides DBP Transmission (DBP) — the owner and operator of the DBNGP — with vital, real-time gas operations information and enhanced historical retention capacity for greater reliability and responsiveness.

Critical to financial performance, GMAS technology accurately measures the flow of gas, collecting continuous, real-time measurements to help optimize daily operations and generate accurate reports that will withstand intense financial scrutiny. DBP is able to gather measurements interfacing with various systems, chart integrators, third parties and manual input. This allows the company to configure its devices, and to collect, validate, modify and reconcile its gas measurement data. It also can detect missing or late data. Additionally, DBP can add data as it becomes available, or it can extrapolate and add missing data based on estimation rules for each of its measurement devices and external systems.

“We are proud of this new achievement — contributing state-of-the-art technology to manage a strategic asset for the country. This success demonstrates Telvent is DBP’s technology partner,” said Ignacio Gonzalez, Telvent CEO. “It is one of the longest natural gas pipelines on the continent and the only one connecting the Northwest Shelf Gas Project with other production facilities in the Carnarvon Basin and the region's southwest markets. The co-engineering process between DBP and Telvent has been crucial for a smooth transition, and the subsequent seamless cutover to system. This approach has helped ensure a secure supply of gas for industrial, commercial and residential customers in Perth and the surrounding region.”
