Abengoa and Georgetown's McDonough School of Business partner to create custom program in project management

January 21, 2011

Washington, D.C., January 21, 2011 – Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and the sustainable technology company Abengoa have partnered to create a custom executive education program in project management, offered exclusively to Abengoa’s employees.

"Designed to strengthen one of the key functions at Abengoa, the basis underlying a large part of our strategic plan, this partnership with Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business aims to help participants update their expertise and develop their skills in project management, enhancing their managerial competency as well as people management skills and team leading," said Manuel Sánchez Ortega, CEO of Abengoa.

Created to provide the conceptual frameworks and practical knowledge necessary for continued expansion and innovation, the Abengoa Project Manager Program will provide a global vision of project management. The 10-month program will be offered primarily in Washington, D.C., at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and will be taught by Georgetown faculty and Abengoa executives. Through an emphasis on management ability, managerial competence, people and team management, and knowledge of Abengoa, participants will learn to apply best market practices to realistic program management challenges.

In addition to course content that will specifically address program management within Abengoa, the curriculum will provide a solid foundation for students pursuing Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute, the world’s leading not-for-profit membership association for the project management profession.

"I am delighted that Abengoa has chosen Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business as its home for Executive Education in the United States," said George Daly, dean of Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. "Like Abengoa, we are an institution that enjoys a culture of entrepreneurial thinking, corporate social responsibility, transparency, and efficiency."
