Abengoa's revenues grew by 29% in the first nine months

  • YTD EBITDA reached €641 million, an increase of 25%.

Seville, November 11th 2010.- Abengoa, the company that develops innovative technology solutions for sustainable development, reported that its revenues rose by 29% to €4,119 million for the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2009, while EBITDA rose by 25% to €641 million.

International activities, which accounted for 65% of total sales, jumped by 35% to €2,686 million compared to the previous year, with significant increases in the USA, Latin America and Asia, while sales in the Spanish market rose by 19% to €1,434 million.

The order book to September 30th for the Engineering and Construction activity totaled €9.6 billion, which will provide huge visibility to the company’s sales over the next 24 months.

The Contracted off-takes activity, which primarily includes electricity generation and transmission, accumulated an order book worth more than €32.0 billion, the result of 31 energy generation plants and the 10,000 km of transmission lines already operational or in the development phase.

Finally, during the first nine months of 2010 the Commodities area produced 1.6 billion liters of biofuels and recycled 1.5 million metric tons of industrial waste.

According to Manuel Sánchez Ortega, CEO of Abengoa, "we have managed to continue growing during a new quarter, in an extremely complex environment, in terms of revenues and EBITDA; to continue increasing our order book; to continue building and developing new plants and transmission lines that will be coming into operation in the next 36 months, and to continue making progress in our R&D projects".

Net income and earnings per share at the end of the third quarter were €156 million and €1.72/share respectively.
