Seville, 21 May 2010.- José Enrique Ayarra, titular organist of the organs of the Chapel of Los Venerables and Seville Cathedral will perform with the Chamber Orchestra of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra on Sunday 23 May at 12.00 pm in the church of the Hospital de los Venerables in Seville under the direction of Moldavian maestro Vladimir Dmitrienco.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the popular Romanian dances by Béla Bartok, the concerto for organ and orchestra by Franz Joseph Haydn (Hob. XVIII in C major), and the symphony for chamber orchestra in C minor by Dmitri Shostakovich (Op. 110).

The concert has become an essential event for lovers of organ music and will be rebroadcast by RNE Radio Clásica.

Since its creation, the Chamber Orchestra of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra has played every season in the Hospital de los Venerables as part of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation program, accompanied by Padre Ayarra in the concerts for organ and orchestra.

José Enrique Ayarra has been the titular organist at the Chapel of Los Venerables ever since the Focus-Abengoa Foundation commissioned Gerhard Grenzing in 1988 to make an organ for the Chapel of the Hospital de los Venerables in Seville. As a soloist he has given recitals in more than thirty countries in Europe, Africa, America and Asia, he has made recordings for radio and television in a dozen countries and has recorded albums on organs from different European schools.

The Focus-Abengoa Foundation was started in 1982 as a result of the cultural work begun in 1972 by Abengoa with the publication of the works Temas Sevillanos (Themes of Seville) and Iconografía de Sevilla (Iconography of Seville). A collection of documents, books and engravings on the Kingdom of Seville or by Sevillian authors was created during the same period. This initial cultural work showed Abengoa’s directors the importance of the company’s involvement in activities that directly benefit society, beyond the firm’s core technology based work, which led to the creation of the Seville Cultural Fund Foundation.
