November 3, 2009 - Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, will participate as official sponsor in the 2nd International Congress on Excellence. This business forum, centered on the theme of "Innovation as the Key to Competitiveness", will be held in Madrid on November 4 under the auspices of the Community of Madrid's Madrid Foundation for Excellence.
The Community of Madrid seeks to encourage business innovation with the two-fold aim of boosting competitiveness and helping companies to adapt their businesses to today's demands and market juncture. Noteworthy members of the business community, such as Javier Rodríguez Zapatero, president of Google Spain; authorities, including Esperanza Aguirre, president of the Community of Madrid; and experts in innovation, such as Nigel Barlow, author of the "Re-Think" concept; will share their expertise through successful case studies in which innovation proved the key factor.
Javier Garoz, Telvent's executive vice president of Corporate Development, will participate in the "Innovation as the Key to Competitiveness" round table. Discussions will be focused on the different ways in which innovation can generate competitive profits for businesses. According to Mr. Garoz, "innovation is undoubtedly the key factor to compete in an extremely dynamic environment and in a world where technology is essential to recover the sustainability of our economic model. In the case of Telvent, the ongoing pursuit of excellence through the continuous commitment to quality and innovation has proven a key factor in obtaining results and achieving success."
In November 2008 Telvent was presented with the usage license for the Madrid Excelente seal endorsing the quality and business excellence of companies located in the Community of Madrid and which are committed to innovation and ongoing improvement. Earlier, in April 2007, Telvent was awarded the Madrid Excelente Prize for Customer Trust in the "Major Companies" category. This award proves to the public, customers and suppliers the company's solid practices, in terms of both managerial excellence and the trust bestowed upon the company by its customers.
