November 3, 2009

Bentley is a company which proves applications that help engineers, architects, contractors, governments, institutions, utilities and owner-operators design, build and operate more productively, collaborate more globally and deliver infrastructure assets that perform in a frame of sustainability.

The Be Inspired Awards program has recognized over 1,000 of the world's most outstanding infrastructure projects since its 2004 inception as the Be Awards of Excellence. The projects nominated for the Be Inspired Awards come from Bentley's users around the globe, and the winning projects are selected by a rigorous jury of independent experts in various fields of infrastructure.

All nominated projects are presented in the annual publication, The Year in Infrastructure. Through its project descriptions and imagery, Bentley highlights the extraordinary nominees in the Be Inspired competition. With it, Bentley celebrates outstanding achievements in infrastructure design, engineering, construction and operations across the globe, as well as the innovation in best practices among the infrastructure professionals who make these projects possible.

In the present edition, the finalists for each of the 17 awards categories represent the full breadth of infrastructure types.

EPG has been awarded for achieving the goal of designing the second solar power plant PS 20 based on the existing power plant design but doubling the power. The 80 million euro PS20 solar unit will have a 20-megawatt capacity, generating 48.6 giga watts per hour per year of clean energy, which is enough to supply about 12,000 households.

The celebration of the award was attended by 500 people including a local government, the event coincide with a special date due to EPG commemorates its 60th Anniversary.

Basic and detail engineering design was performed using MicroStation PowerDraft, PlantSpace, and TriForma. A steel structure 3D model was produced using other software and imported into the DGN environment. Renewable energy from the sun can be the future for countries that lack natural resources but are rich in sunny days.

This award reinforces the EPG's capacity to undertake challenging projects, in fact its professional career it’s backed up by the designing of a significant part of the Polish power generation industry.
