Madrid, 22 October 2009.- Amando Sánchez Falcón, Financial Director at Abengoa, was distinguished as one of the year’s 100 best financial advisors, by Actualidad Económica magazine, and KPMG. The awards ceremony was held this morning in Madrid, and was presided by José Manuel Campa, Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, in Madrid.
The aim of the "100 financial advisors" initiative is to acknowledge the work of the people responsible for the financial departments in Spanish companies, a strategic and vital task for good corporate governance.
In its second edition, the survey, led by KPMG, and conducted among a sample of financial directors (over 2000), gave special consideration to the adaptative capacity of financial departments in a complex economic environment such as the current one. Also, and as highlighted by the consulting firm, "the ranking did not seek to rate day to day operations, but most importantly the strategic vision".
Amando Sánchez Falcón joined Abengoa in 1998, as analyst in the Structured Investments department. Between 1999 and 2003, he acted as director of Abengoa's Corporate Financing, and Structured Financing departments, and as Finance Director of the Bioenergy Business Group. In 2003, he became director of the Abengoa's Corporate Finance department.
Holding a baccalaureate in Business Science by the Autonomous University of Madrid (1996), between 1993 and 1998, Mr. Sánchez worked as risk analyst for Analistas Financieros Internacionales, a Madrid-based consulting company, and for the Spanish branch of Crédit Agricole Indosuez.
