Abengoa will build, through its branch Teyma Construction, two Substations of 500 kV in Uruguay

August 5, 2009

Montevideo, August 3, 2009.- The Electric Power Plants National Administration of Uruguay (UTE), has entrusted Teyma Construction, Abeinsa's associate, the later being Abengoa's Industrial Engineering and Construction business group, a turnkey contract for the execution of two 500 kV Substations in Montevideo.

This project, valued at 35 million dollars, comes to cover UTE's need to increase electric power transmission, raising tension and minimizing energy losses by enlarging Punta del Tigre's Plant.

Teyma will carry out the project, supply, civil works and assembly of two 500 kV substations, one located in Punta del Tigre and the other in Las Brujas. The first one will raise out-coming tension from 150 to 500 kV, thus doubling the Plant's power. The second one will be a coupling station which will allow the conjunction of the line coming Punta del Tigre with the one from Palmar. In both cases, control and protection systems will allow remote operation.

Among the works to be carried out, we can mention earth moving, foundation works -5000 cubic meters of concrete-, wiring -250km-, structure assembly and equipment -700 tons-, tests and start up.

Founded in Uruguay in 1980, Teyma Construction focuses its activity on the execution of infrastructure projects, mainly those in connection with electric and hydraulic power, industrial and architectural works. Teyma belongs to the group of local companies through which Abeinsa, Abengoa's Industrial Engineering and Construction Business Group, operates in Latin America (www.teyma.com.uy).

Abengoa is a technological company which applies innovative solutions for sustainable development in infrastructure, environment and energy areas. Abengoa is present in more than seventy countries, in which operates through its five different Business Groups: Solar, Bioenergy, Environmental Services, Information Technologies and Industrial Engineering and Construction (www.abengoa.com).
