July 21, 2009 - Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today that the Company has been awarded a contract with Sedapal to update the system controlling the La Atarjea water treatment plant in Peru to the new OASyS DNA 7.5 version. Sedapal, for its acronym in Spanish, is the Lima Potable Water and Sewer System Service in Peru. In 2008 Sedapal produced over one billion cubic meters of drinkable water to supply the cities of Lima and Callao. Thanks to this project, more than eight million citizens and businesses will benefit from an improved water supply.
OASyS DNA 7.5, the new version of the SCADA system, will enable real-time control of the plant's operations, making it possible to access information in process status at any time. This improvement will increase the sustainability of these types of installations and the service they provide to the community.
The OASyS DNA 7.5 software also includes functionalities for verifying user identity and differentiating security areas assigned to different operators. This will therefore prevent unauthorized personnel from accessing critical plant information, in addition to ensuring the data on users and operations.
Telvent's OASyS SCADA control systems gather data from different points within the plant and transmit it to a platform that manages real time information. Operations can thus be supervised in a centralized manner through this platform. Furthermore, the OASyS DNA 7.5 software incorporates DNA technology, enabling unification and combination of the different applications used at the water treatment plant so that data may be shared among them all.
According to Manuel Sanchez, Telvent's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, "Telvent's suite of specific applications for water treatment plants is a solution made of modules, which allows it to be adapted to each company's evolution and particular needs. The contract with Sedapal increases our presence in Latin America, where Telvent operates, among others, in the following countries: Mexico, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina."
