The Focus-Abengoa Foundation presents José Enrique Ayarra, titular organist of the Chapel of los Venerables, in concert with the Chamber Orchestra of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra

May 22, 2009

Seville, 22 May 2009. José Enrique Ayarra, titular organist of the organ of the Chapel de los Venerables and Seville Cathedral will perform with the Chamber Orchestra of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra on Sunday 24 May at 12.00 pm in a new concert at the church of the Hospital de los Venerables in Seville.

Visitors can enjoy the concertos for two violins and string orchestra by Bach (BWV 1043 in D minor) and Handel (HWV 305a in F major), which include solos by Padre Ayarra and the violinists Vladimir Dmitrienco and Eric Crambes, as well as the concerto for the organ and string octet by Mendelssohn (Op. 20 in E flat major).

The concert, which is an essential event for lovers of organ music, will be rebroadcast by RNE Radio Clásica.

Since it was established, the Chamber Orchestra of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra has played every season at the Hospital de los Venerables as part of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation program, accompanied by Padre Ayarra in the concerts for organ and orchestra. This year the Chamber Orchestra of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra has the participation of the renowned violinist Eric Cramb, as concertmaster and director of the program.

José Enrique Ayarra has been the titular organist at the Chapel de los Venerables ever since the Focus-Abengoa Foundation commissioned Gerhard Grenzing in 1988 to make an organ for the Chapel of the Hospital de los Venerables in Seville. As a soloist he has given recitals in more than thirty countries in Europe, Africa, America and Asia, he has made recordings for radio and television stations in a dozen countries and has recorded albums on organs from different European schools.

The Focus-Abengoa Foundation was started in 1982 as a result of the cultural work begun in 1972 by Abengoa with the publication of the works Temas Sevillanos (Themes of Seville) and Iconografía de Sevilla (Iconography of Seville). A collection of documents, books and recordings on the Kingdom of Seville or by Sevillian authors was created at the same time. This initial cultural work showed Abengoa’s directors the importance of the company’s involvement in activities that directly benefit society, beyond its core technology based work, and this led to the creation of the Seville Cultural Fund Foundation.
