March

Telvent to implement Valladolid global traffic management project

March 5, 2009

March 5, 2009 - Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced that it has been awarded the project for global management of Valladolid's centralized control center, wich will provide the city of Valladolid with a mobility management center.

The project consists of upgrading and integrating most of the mobility management systems into a single centralized aplication, thereby enabling more effective global management of mobility within the city. Noteworthy among the innovations that will be put into place is the implementation in one of the city's traffic sub-areas of an adaptive traffic management system that will facilitate individualized response to specific lane situations at all times, as a product of the real-time information available on the number of vehicles and the level of lane occupancy and, based on this information, up-to-the-minute solutions will be proposed. In addition, a centralized fault management system will enable a reduction in response times and facilitate effective plans for global management of the different urban mobility management systems.

One of the key aspects in improving urban mobility is keeping users informed in real time, and therefore one of the predominant features of this project is the creation of a citizen information website that will have a real-time connection to the city's mobility management system.

Thanks to this project, the citizens of Valladolid will enjoy shorter travel times throughout the city, as well as a reduction in delays and backups due to traffic congestion. Traffic flow within the city will be improved and the work of traffic operators will benefit from being able to use installations that help them to operate and manage urban mobility more efficiently, reducing their citizen response time. Furthermore, all of these enhancements will reduce both the emission of contaminating agents and noise pollution in the city, allowing Valladolid to move forward in its efforts to create a sustainable city.

According to Manuel Sánchez Ortega, chairman of Telvent, "We are pleased to be able to collaborate with the city of Valladolid in improving urban mobility with the aim of creating a more pleasant environment for citizens and improving their quality of life."

Telvent has collaborated in projects focused on improving urban mobility in a variety of cities, including Sao Paulo (Brazil), Rosario (Argentina), Guadalajara (Mexico), New York (United States) and Madrid (Spain), enabling these cities to make progress in mobility management.
