Telvent will implement and manage the 511 Traveler Information System in the state of New York

Madrid January 24, 2008 – Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, was selected by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to implement and manage the 511-Travel Information System for a three-year period. Telvent will lead the project and develop it with other five companies. The project is valued at more than eight million euros.

The 511 number is an abbreviated dialing code assigned by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) since 2000. It allows travelers to access real-time travel information related to highways, transportation means, street work, traffic jams and other relevant information. Telvent will work with the New York State Department of Transportation to implement the information service 511 in the state and the New York City metropolitan area.

Among other features, the number also provides any user the ability to plan their trip. Any traveler (long-distance travelers, commuters, tourists, or commercial vehicle operators) is able to access real-time information to plan a trip and define alternative routes. The system will be implemented through a multi-platform service, distributing travel information by telephone and other electronic means, including Internet web pages and e-mail.

Special attention must be placed on past projects including 511 and other related technology, such as the San Francisco Bay Area’s TravInfo® 511 system, TRIPS123 (information number for trips) projects, and the TRANSCOM regional architecture system (organization for traffic incidents information). Moreover, Telvent currently provides real-time traffic information on roads and travelling to 410,000 telephone requests per year and 5,000,000 web pages users per month.
