Telvent and El Corte Inglés signs an agreement to develop the control systems of department store in Spain

Madrid, December 5, 2007. – Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, has announced today the execution of an agreement with the largest Spanish department store – El Corte Inglés – for the development and implementation of the control system integration and maintenance of their buildings, which will result in reducing energy consumption and increasing operating efficiency.

This ambitious Project, which will spread out all Spanish commercial centers of El Corte Inglés, consists of the implementation of a real-time information management system from Telvent -OASyS DNA solution and subsystems from the acquisition of Saitel- and will centralize all the information coming from the different control and monitoring subsystems installed at such centers. In addition, the project includes a commission to study the energy efficiency of the buildings, evaluating the short-term options to enable zero energy balance, generating as many energy as consume

The system will allow El Corte Inglés to integrate, unify and standardize their control processes at the store, as well as centralize all of the information at the national maintenance center. This way, the vendor will also benefit from higher security measures and accessibility to their information, as well as having the possibility of integrating the information with other business processes.

With this process, El Corte Inglés will have efficient results on the energy balance of their buildings and shall be identify energy saving possibilities, developing plans to reduce energy consumption or looking for energy savings for the specific industrial installations. Moreover, the vendor will also have an understanding of their energy requirements based on progress trails which would optimize resources usage such as compressed air, air conditioning, steam, escalators, etc.

According to Manuel Sánchez, Telvent's chairman and chief executive officer, "our technology will allow a better standardization of management processes which will increase savings and optimize energy usage, thus will contribute to reduce CO2 emissions".
