Abengoa Solar has been selected by the Department of Energy for three R&D projects in US

Madrid, 4th December 2007.- The U.S. Department of Energy has selected three projects proposed by Abengoa Solar as part of their Concentrated Solar Power initiative. The objective of these three projects is to develop new more efficient trough CSP technologies.

The Department of Energy will contribute with two million dollars for the first phase of these projects.

Henry Price, director of energy of Abengoa Solar explained "is a very important step in our efforts to develop better and cheaper technologies in solar thermal, With our R&D program in Europe and these new projects in the U.S. we will be able to ensure that concentrated solar power becomes a mainstream clean solution against climate change".

"It is the first occasion in which Abengoa Solar receives a subsidy on the part of the US Government in which the Business Unit is situated in referring to the solar sector within the international level", declared Price.
