Madrid, June 12, 2007 - Telvent GIT S.A. (Nasdaq: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, has been awarded two contracts for the deployment stage of the electronic National ID (NID) system throughout Spain. This strategic project, valued at more than 30 million euro, is a key to enabling the Information Society in Spain to become a reality.

In this key phase of the project, which is scheduled to commence in Cádiz this month, Telvent will supply personalization systems for the electronic NID, specifically the hardware and software required for laser recording of citizens’ personal data on their NID cards. After the initial deployment in Cadiz, the technology will be implemented and maintained throughout the country. The electronic NID system is expected to be available throughout Spain by the end of 2007.

According to Telvent’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel Sánchez, “These contracts strengthen Telvent’s Public Administration presence and complement the project that we recently completed for electronic verification of identification documents at Spanish border check-points. Homeland Security is one of the major concerns facing governments worldwide and Telvent is working to achieve leadership in delivering IT systems that address this challenge.”

Under the electronic NID project, all Spanish citizens will have a high-security document that includes both the physical and digital identity of the holder. The issuing of the NID card will be done as a single administrative act, a significant improvement over the traditional application process. The resulting saving in time and processing will allow the electronic NID to be distributed throughout the entire country this year. Using the card, the population will be able to securely access a wide range of services including transactions with various government agencies, financial institutions, and signed purchasing activities through the Internet.

The new electronic NID will significantly increase security, both in the physical identification of individuals as it is virtually impossible to falsify, and in the conducting of electronic transactions as digital certificates are incorporated in a cryptographic chip and this allows authentication of individuals and their electronic signatures.

This project, which the Spanish government considers to be of strategic importance, is a decisive step towards accelerating the implementation of the Information Society in Spain. It positions the country at the forefront in the utilization of information and communication technologies which will be of benefit to all citizens.
