Abengoa has been awarded the City Medal in Saint Fernando's Day

Seville, May 30th 2007 – Today, Saint Fernando’s Day, the international company in Seville Abengoa has received the City Medal from the City Council in the Lope de Vega Theatre. This award, which has been approved unanimously by all the political groups with representation in the Council of Seville, pays tribute to the trajectory of Abengoa and its belief in Seville as a place to invest.

At the moment, Abengoa is promoting two big projects in the city: Palmas Altas Technological Centre, an initiative that has started up in collaboration with the City Council of Seville, and Torrecuéllar Logistic and Industrial Centre. With both projects Abengoa is investing near 130 million euros in Seville and it is going to gather more than 1,900 jobs in its head quarters.

This year, the City Council of Seville has also wanted to honour an important number of organizations and well known names with the Medal, such as the Real Betis Football Club, in the occasion of the centenary of its foundation; La Carbonería, the Claret School, the Inglaterra Hotel and the Red Cross, among others. Also the Cardinal of Seville, Carlos Amigo Vallejo, has been appointed Adoptive Son of Seville since, although he was born in Valladolid, he has lived in the capital since 1982. Particularly, the City Council of Seville has also awarded the song and dance professor Adelita Domingo and the painter Carmen Laffón. The Medal has been awarded posthumously to the cinema producer Antonio Perez, to the director of the Course of Seville Themes, Antonio Bustos, as well as to the doctors Jose Pérez Bernal and Ángel Bernardo, responsible for the transplants services of Seville.
