Abengoa included in the S&P Global Challengers 40 Index

May 28, 2007

The S&P Global Challengers 40 Index includes the world’s 40 companies that, while complying with the criteria indicated here-below, have experienced the highest growth in the following values: share price appreciation, earnings per share, sales growth, and employee growth.

The criteria candidate companies for the Index must meet are as follows:

  • Market capitalization of more than 1,000 M USD.
  • Must have an average daily trading value above US$ 4 million. The average is calculated by taking the values for the previous six months.
  • Must have had positive market revalorization for the three years prior to inclusion in the index.
  • Must have had sales growth in the 3 years prior to inclusion in the index.
  • Earnings per share and the workforce numbers must have grown in the last 3 years.
  • The index covers 3 regions: the Americas, Europe and Asia/Pacific. There must be a minimum of 5 and maximum of 25 companies from each region. Companies from emerging countries such as China, India, Mexico, and Turkey..., are not included.
  • Share volatility during the last 3 months must be less than 4%.

The S&P Global Challengers 40 Index is, in turn, a sub-index of the S&P Global Challengers List that includes 300 companies, of which seven are Spanish: Abengoa, CIE Automotive, Elecnor, Catalana Occidente, Inmobiliaria Urbis, Mecalux and OHL. Of these seven companies, only Abengoa has been selected for the select 40 Index.
