The Focus-Abengoa Foundation has decided on the winner of the Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis on a Sevillian Theme

The jury make the corresponding proposals, to the Board of Governors of the “Fundación Fondo de Cultura de Sevilla”, in relation to the awarding of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis on a Sevillian Theme, agreed by unanimous decision was awarded to Rocío Fernández Berrocal, for her work: “Juan Ramón Jiménez y Sevilla” (Juan Ramón Jiménez and Seville). The jury underlined “her exhaustive study of the intense biographical and literary relationship between Juan Ramón Jiménez and the city. The thesis reveals that Seville was a vital reference for this poet from Moguer and that the city obtains a deep literary category in his verses, especially in the two books Sevilla (Seville) and Diario de un poeta recién casado (The diary of a newly-wed poet)”.

The jury was presided by Santiago Grisolía and formed by Juan Carlos Arañó Gisbert, Antonio-Miguel Bernal Rodríguez, Emilio Gómez Piñol, Manuel González Jiménez, Francisco González Vilchez, José Macarro Vera, Pedro Piñero Ramírez, Alfonso Pleguezuelo Hernández, Manuel Porras Sánchez, Ramón Queiro Filgueira and Jaime Rodríguez Sacristán.
