Madrid, September 21, 2006 — Telvent GIT S.A. (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, announced today that it will provide a control system to manage the electric infrastructures that serve a population of almost two million in the region of Valparaiso in Chile.
The project which is currently being developed by Endesa Chile and which will be operational in the second half of 2007 comprises the expansion of the power lines that will connect the San Luis substation and the Nehuenco and San Isidro combined cycle power plants.
According to Telvent’s chairman and chief executive officer, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, “this new project strengthens our position in the energy infrastructure sector in Latin America and also contributes to the normalization and control of electricity supply that is currently underway in Chile.”
Telvent has been in Latin America for more than 17 years, a market which represents 30 percent of the Company’s revenues. Other projects executed in the Latin American energy sector includes: Enersis, Latin America’s most important energy group, to upgrade the energy control centers of two of its subsidiaries; Edegel and Edelnor, the management system for the distribution operation centers of the Rio de Janeiro based power company Light (Brazil); the control system for the Emilio Portes Gil combined cycle thermal power plant (Mexico); and the electricity distribution and transmission network for the Comisión Federal de Electricidad of Mexico, among others.
