Telvent to provide its weather observation technology to Argentina's most important airports

August 10, 2006

Madrid, August 10, 2006 – Telvent GIT S.A. (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has signed a contract with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the supply and installation of Automatic Weather Observation Systems in the Argentinean airports of Buenos Aires, Mar de Plata, Córdoba, Resistencia and Mendoza.

The weather observation systems incorporate the latest technology and comply with the recommendations of the World Meteorological Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization. The systems will allow the acquisition, presentation and dissemination of relevant meteorological information at runways and taxi areas of the airport.

Telvent technology will help to improve the safety conditions for aircraft landing and take-off maneuvers, providing precise information on existing conditions to the air traffic controllers and the forecasting units that are located in the various airports. The systems will measure wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, temperature, degree of humidity, rainfall, runway visibility, sky condition and cloud height.

According to Telvent's chairman and chief executive officer, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, “We are very pleased to receive this contract. Argentina is deeply committed to modernizing its aeronautical infrastructure, and this offers Telvent’s Environment Sector a major opportunity for growth consistent with our strategy of becoming one of the world’s leading suppliers of weather systems for air navigation purposes.”

Telvent weather systems provide safety and efficiency in landing and take-off for more than 100 million passengers a year at more than 150 airports. Major projects executed by Telvent in Latin America include the supply of weather equipment for the airports of Roatán and La Mesa in Honduras; Quito, Guayaquil, Manta, Coca, Latacunga and Cuenca airports, in Ecuador; Tocumen y Marcos A. Gelabert in Panama and Iquitos in Peru. In addition, the highway weather station system in Brazil, the weather radar equipment of Querétaro in Mexico, and the meteorological early warning system for the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Bolivia.

Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, specializes in high value-added solutions and services for four industries (Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment).
