Telvent to provide control systems for metro networks in Latin America and Spain

June 6, 2006

Madrid, June 6, 2006 – Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has signed several contracts totaling more than 12.5 million euro, in Latin America and Spain, to supply and install ticketing control and management systems for metro networks.

In Latin America, Telvent will provide a station facilities control system for the new metro line stations in Valencia, Venezuela. In addition, Telvent will upgrade the access control systems for the light train system in Mexico FD for the Mexican public enterprise, Servicios de Transportes Eléctricos. Telvent has also been awarded the project to implement ticketing systems for the expansion of the Belo Horizonte metro network, in Brazil, which is being built by Compañía Brasileña de Trenes Urbanos (CBTU). As part of this project, Telvent will design and install a digital telecommunications system and a ticketing system for Compañía Paulista de Trenes Metropolitanos’ line “C” extension in Sao Paolo.

Of particular significance among the projects recently awarded in this sector, Telvent has signed two contracts with MINTRA (Infraestruras de Transporte de Madrid) to provide ticketing systems for the new metro lines under construction in Madrid. Telvent will supply the access control systems for the line 3 extension that will connect Legazpi with the districts of San Cristóbal de los Ángeles and Villaverde Alto. Telvent’s technology will also enable the provision of special access for reduced mobility users in accordance with Metro de Madrid’s policy of facilitating metro system usage for those individuals with mobility challenges. Also in Madrid, Telvent will supply the ticketing system for the new eight-kilometer, eight-station Metroeste line that will connect line 7 with the villages of Coslada and San Fernando.

One of the most relevant new features of these projects lies in the fact that some of the automatic ticket vending machines will only accept payment by credit card, to satisfy the growing demand from users for more convenient and flexible payment options. In addition, all of the automatic ticket vending machines will incorporate a navigation system feature to assist the blind through voice messages, and will enable the use of contact less cards, providing more efficient access to the metro users.

According to Manuel Sánchez Ortega, Telvent’s chairman and chief executive officer, “These new contracts represent a strengthening of our ticketing solutions for metro system management in Latin America, a continent on which almost 20 percent of our sales volume is achieved and which is also one of the main strategic areas in the company’s expansion plan. Our technology will provide users of the new Latin American and Spanish metro systems with faster and more efficient access to transport in their cities.”

Telvent has provided technology solutions for major transport operators worldwide, such as Metro de Madrid and RENFE, in Spain; New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, in the United States; and Tianjin Metro, in China. In addition, Telvent has executed projects in Latin American countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, and Peru. On a global basis, Telvent’s solutions manage the movement of more than 2.5 billion passengers a year on train and metro systems worldwide.
