Madrid, April 7, 2006 – Telvent GIT S.A. (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, announced today that it has signed a seven million euro contract with Aucosta, a joint venture between FCC Construcción and Empresas Ploder,, to supply and install traffic control systems on the new Cartagena (Murcia) – Vera (Almería) section of the Costa Cálida highway.
The 114 kilometer highway crosses the Alto del Aguilon and Moreras mountain ranges and has been built to bear the burden of the future growth in tourism traffic along the coast between Murcia and Almeria.
Telvent will supply and install the highway’s toll system, tunnel maintenance and control system, and traffic control system (ITS). The toll system comprises two modules, one for general management and the other for receipt of payment. The system being deployed will include, for the first time in Spain, “Via T” tele-tolling on all the lanes. The Via T system allows users to pay tolls without having to stop the vehicle at a control point, allowing faster traffic flows.
The signaling, environmental protection, communications and safety systems being installed by Telvent on the highway and in the tunnels will provide optimal safety conditions for the highway users. Information will be centralized in an intelligent tunnel management system being installed in the highway’s common control center.
Telvent’s toll system is easily adaptable to operators’ changing needs. Additional toll management and payment modules can be added as needed to enable, for example, new maintenance or accounting applications, or even remote access through the Internet.
Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, specializes in high value add solutions and services in four industry sectors (Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment).
