Telvent wins control system contract for Venezuelan railway network

February 2, 2006

Madrid, February 2, 2006 - Telvent GIT S.A. (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has signed a contract to supply and install access control systems and automatic ticket vending and passenger information machines for the Caracas-Valle del Tuy suburban railway network in Venezuela.

According to Telvent's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, “With this contract, Telvent consolidates its international expansion in the ticketing sector while strengthening its leading position in contact-free card technology at the national and international level”.

Telvent will utilize its “Mobifast” platform for access and automatic vending machine management. This gives the operator greater flexibility in relation to fare management and optimizes the regulation of passenger access. The system also simplifies the ticket recharging, validation and purchasing process for users and makes different modes of public transport available to the user within a single ticket category,.

Telvent’s access control and automatic ticket vending system will utilize “contact-free intelligent cards” technology which allows users to recharge their ticket, validate journeys and check the balance of their transport tickets by simply putting the ticket close to the turnstiles or vending machines. The intelligent cards will be available in two formats: a rechargeable multi-journey ticket version and in a single journey reusable version. In addition, the Telvent system will provide passengers with continuous information on the state of the rail network, by providing them with real-time information on timetables, incidents, delays or any other messages that enable the provision of a better customer care service.

Telvent has already successfully executed different projects based on contact-free card technology for Madrid Metro and Bilbao Metro and, it is currently completing the installation of the contact-free technology based access control system for Line 1 of the city of Tianjin metro, in China.

Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, specializes in high value add solutions and services in four industry sectors (Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment). Its technology allows high performing companies to make real-time business decisions using data acquisition, control, and advanced operational applications, providing secure actionable information delivery to the enterprise.
