Madrid, December 28, 2005 – Telvent GIT S.A. (NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, today announced that it has signed a 3 million euro contract with Alcatel Integration Services GmbH to supply technology to control and manage the first international pipeline connecting Kazakhstan and China. The pipeline, being built by the Kazakhstan China Pipeline Company, is a 50/50 joint venture between China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) of China and KazMunaiGas of Kazakhstan.
The crude oil pipeline, spanning a distance of 962 kilometers, runs from Atasu, in the north of Kazahkstan to Alashankou, in the Xingjian region of China, just inside the China-Kazakhstan border. From that point, it connects with the Alashankou-Dushenzi Pipeline in China, which is also being managed by Telvent technology.
According to Telvent´s chairman and chief executive officer, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, ”I am pleased that we are continuing to successfully build our oil and gas business in the strategically important Asia Pacific region. This contract follows other major wins, including the Alashankou-Dushenzi crude oil pipeline and the West crude products pipeline, and will be an important reference project within Kazakhstan, a country with a major oil and gas reserves”.
Under the contract, Telvent will supply an advanced Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which will include one main control center at Atasu (Kazakhstan) and one monitoring station at Almaty (Kazakhstan), among others technological solutions.
