Madrid, August 18, 2005 - Telvent (NASDAQ TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, and Soluziona have been chosen by EPCG (Elektro Privreda Crne Gore Ad-Niksic), the state company responsible for electrical energy generation, transportation and distribution in the Republic of Montenegro, to implement an advanced electricity metering system.
The contract, which represents a first for both companies in Montenegro, is aimed at modernizing and improving metering management through the remote capture of load curves and tariff meters for 3,500 of EPCG’s customers and 23 of its substations. The objective is to optimize invoicing cycles and quality and to reduce operational losses and debt.
Telvent is to supply and install its TMS (Telvent Metering System) remote electricity metering and control system, while Soluziona will implement its meter handling software and integrate this with EPCG’s current business management system.
The solution also involves the implementation of a control centre in EPCG offices in Podgorica (South of Montenegro) for the automatic management of all the company’s meters. The system provides two-way communication with the remote equipment, which allows information to be obtained in real-time about emergencies or attempted fraud, enabling the corresponding measures to be implemented.
The technological platform designed by Telvent and Soluziona provides the data necessary to manage energy consumption, detect and identify business losses, and optimize investment in the network. The project will also lead to improvements in the monitoring of consumer groups and the production of customer profile types, and will minimize re-billing and associated invoicing costs. Remote management of metering units will also facilitate disconnection, connection and control of demand services.
