Madrid, July 11, 2005. – Telvent (NASDAQ TLVT), the Global Real-Time IT Company, has now deployed ArcFM to Townsville City Council in North Queensland, Australia to maintain and manage their water, wastewater, and stormwater networks. The implementation of ArcFM has enabled the automation of fundamental processes, which have seen a productivity increase of 300% for maintenance and 25% for ‘as constructed’ subdivision capture. This automation has helped Townsville City Council’s asset management capability to remain in the top 10% of Councils nationally.
Townsville City Council selected ArcFM, an extension to the ESRI ArcGIS suite supplied by ESRI Australia, to improve existing network management capability and to ensure that the Council can meet the stringent regulatory demands and level of service required by clients.
ArcFM is being used to manage over 1600km of water (including the Townsville Thuringowa Water Board assets), 800km of wastewater, and 600km of stormwater networks.
"The Townsville City Council is always looking to take advantage of the latest technology to improve productivity and efficiency. By already achieving a 300% productivity gain in data maintenance less than six months after implementation, ArcFM has more than proven its return on investment," said Sandra Sherriff, Coordinator, Land Information Unit, Townsville City Council.
ArcFM has delivered to the Council utility-specific network tracing, strip mapping functionality, and enhanced field mapping capability with its ability to automatically zoom to errors and by carrying ArcFM data integrity through to ArcPad projects.
