Telvent to Modernize Beirut´s Traffic Management Infrastructure

June 23, 2005

Madrid, June 23, 2005 — Telvent ( NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has signed a contract with the Lebanon Reconstruction Committee (CDR) to modernize and develop traffic management infrastructure and systems for the city of Beirut, Lebanon. The total value of the contract is in excess of 25 million euros.

Manuel Sanchez Ortega, Telvent’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, “This project further consolidates Telvent’s position as a global leader in the design and implementation of advanced real-time traffic control solutions. It also continues the Company’s expansion in the Middle East. Telvent will improve traffic quality for Beirut’s citizens and will endow the city with some of the most modern technology for traffic management that exists nowadays”.

Telvent will design and construct a new Traffic Control Center to manage and analyze Beirut’s traffic using a global management real-time system that incorporates traffic management, geographic information, facility maintenance, and simulation components.

The urban traffic management solution will utilize Telvent’s proprietary ITACA application, a real-time traffic control system that enables optimization of traffic-flow. Telvent’s ITACA system incorporates a simulation and planning module that enables the development and testing of traffic control strategies prior to putting them into practice, as well as for the simulation of accidents, disasters, evacuations, demonstrations and their corresponding action plans. The ITACA system is currently installed in some of the world’s busiest cities such as Sao Paolo (Brazil), Fushun (China), HoChiMin City (Vietnam) and Madrid (Spain).

Intersection information will be controlled by ArcFM, the Geographic Information System , developed by Telvent’s Miner&Miner subsidiary. ArcFM provides up-to-date information on situations at crossroads, equipment inventory, traffic plans, accident statistics and data from the metering points and traffic detectors, thereby making situation-analysis and decision-making fast and efficient.

Telvent will also install a solution to collect and process traffic-light violations and generate reports. This solution will not only enable statistical control of the infractions committed at intersections, but will also aid in finding ways to reduce accident rates.

Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, specializes in high value-added solutions for four specific industrial sectors (Energy, Traffic, Transport, and Environment) in Europe, North America, Latin America and China. (www.telvent.com).
