March

Telvent to provide an alternative Internet network interconnection point in Catalonia

March 10, 2005

Madrid, March 10, 2005 - Telvent (NASDAQ TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Supercomputing Center of Catalonia (CESCA) that will result in Telvent´s facilities in Catalonia becoming an alternative Internet network connection and information exchange point, supplementing the existing CATNIX (Neutral Internet Traffic Exchange Point of Catalonia) system.

This collaboration agreement will enable users and Internet providers who are housed in Telvent’s Barcelona facilities to exchange information with those who are physically connected to the main building in which the CATNIX system is installed. In the event of a system disruption, Telvent can provide users and internet providers with connection access to the CATNIX system from their own facilities, through a second interconnection point that acts as a CATNIX back-up center.

The neutral points interconnect networks belonging to different telecommunications operators and are authentic nodal centers in which different networks come together, which results in a better quality Internet service. These points facilitate fast access routes for companies connected to the network and, at the same time, contribute to the enhancement of the quality of the Internet service and bandwidth available to the customers and servers in those organizations. In this way, potential problems related with the current routes, such as delays, congestion and information losses can be avoided.

As in the case of roadway networks, Internet networks provide alternative routes for going from one place to another. Telvent’s neutral point is a new interconnection route, an information highway that contributes to a global enhancement in data communications. A neutral point is the most clear-cut example of “collaboration between competitors”, given that the higher their number, the greater the volume of traffic and the higher overall value-added contribution.

The neutral Internet traffic exchange point of Catalonia, CATNIX, is a physical network infrastructure that connects the various telecommunications operators and Internet service providers (ISPs), and facilitates information exchange between those operators and providers.

Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, is specialized in high value-added solutions for four specific industrial sectors (Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment) in Europe, North America, Latin America and China. (www.telvent.com)
