Telvent awarded energy control system project for Cordova - Malaga High Speed Line (AVE)

March 2, 2005

Madrid, February 28, 2005 - Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has been awarded a contract from the Railway Infrastructures Manager (Adif), for the design, installation and implementation of an Energy Telecommand for a section of the Cordova - Malaga High Speed Line (AVE). The contract is valued at seven million euros.

The project, which utilizes Telvent's industry leading OASyS monitoring, control and information management system, includes the installation of two operation and control centers in the cities of Cordova and Malaga, as well as the installation of the necessary control equipment along the entire line. At the present time, the only Energy Telecommand of this type that is operational in Spain is in the High Speed Line (AVE) Madrid-Barcelona-Frech Frontier's line, which connects Madrid to Lerida.

The system is designed according to the safety levels established by the European and international regulations in Information Technologies, which guarantee a high degree of reliability, availability and safety, while providing a centralized facility for controlling and managing the entire system.

The installed system will enable the control of all functions related to electric supply power, both for train traction as well as the operation of other equipment and facilities along the route, including: electrical substations, air line systems, building energy supply systems, tunnel illumination systems, as well as all other systems that require power supply.

The technology solution that is being implemented by Telvent includes advanced realtime IT applications, enabling the accomplishment of simulation sequences, as well as learning and reconstruction of exploitation sequences. In addition, the system incorporates sophisticated maintenance applications, providing overall facility management based on data acquired from equipment and operators.

The project also includes the integration of the Energy Telecommand with the Regulation and Control Center (CRC) network, allowing the two systems to communicate with each other, as well as with other systems that are associated with the high speed rail line.

The timeline for the three-phase project is based on two months of planning for each stage, as well as implementation periods of ten months for phase one, five months for phase two, and four months for the third and final phase. The project will also include 24 months of maintenance support services.

Telvent (Nasdaq: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, is specialized in high value-added solutions for four specific industrial sectors (Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment) in Europe, North America, Latin America and China. (www.telvent.com)
