Madrid, February 25, 2005 – Telvent GIT S.A. (NASDAQ TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has been selected by Sinopec, the China Petroleum and Chemical (Petrochemical) Corporation, to design, install and commission a Supervisory Control and Information Management system for the new Lu-wan products pipeline. The total value of the contract is 1.300.000 euros.
Telvent‘s system will remotely monitor and control the 583-kilometre Lu-wan pipeline, which connects the Qilu-Suzhou Petroleum & Chemical Company in the City of Zibo, southwest of Peking, with the Oil Depot in Suzhou, a historic city in the country’s eastern region. Telvent’s Unix-based OASyS control system will be installed on ten pump and delivery stations located along the pipeline, and integrate with a third party, advanced pipeline application software package. The pipeline system also includes a transmission station in Ji’nan City, with dispatch and control capabilities.
This project is one of a few pilot projects aimed at replacing the current rail and road methods of transportation in use over the past two decades. Monitored and controlled by Telvent’s OASyS, the pipeline will greatly improve the efficiency of transportation, reduce the cost of delivery, and provide a saferand healthier environment in high-density population areas.
According to Manuel Sánchez Ortega, Telvent CEO, “Sinopec was looking for a safe and reliable system that would help them save on costs and streamline operations. As an industry leader, Telvent’s OASyS SCADA is field-proven and offers the required functionality, security and reliability.”
Sinopec is the largest producer and marketer of refined oil products in China and in Asia. This state-owned company is also the largest producer and distributor of petrochemicals in China, and the country’s second-largest oil and gas explorer and producer
