Abengoa awards four new contracts in the India and Morocco

Madrid, 14th July 2004 - Abengoa, through its subsidiary Inabensa, belonging to its Engineering and Industrial Construction business group (Abeinsa), present on the Indian market from 1994, has been awarded awarded with a contract to construct a 765 kV Overhead Transmission Line in India for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, financed by the World Bank with an amount of 11 million Euros and with a execution period of thirty months.

The project will be executed in Joint Venture between Inabensa Bahrat an local company, and consists on the design, supply and installation of 165 km of 765 kilovolts overhead transmission line that will link Sipat's thermal power station with Seoni's substation, passing by Madhya Pradesh State.

This project, included in the foreseeable plan of adjustment and improvement of power transmission lines of energy in the country, will evacuate the energy from the mentioned thermal power station and therefore improve the quality of life of a vast population in the Central, Occidental an Northern States of India.

According to Alfonso González, Abeinsa's Chairman, " with this new contract we consolidate our presence in this market of big projects in the Indian Market, consecuence of the international strategy that we carry out from Inabensa"

Inabensa becomes leader of rural electrification in Morocco

On the other hand, and throught its subsidiary, Inabensa Maroc has been awarded of three news contracts of rural electrification MV/LV for the Office National de L'Électricité (ONE) in Morocco, for an amount over 5,5 million of euros. The location of the contracts centres on the provinces of Agadir and Chtouka Ait Baha on the south zone of Morocco. Inabensa Maroc will electrify a total of 133 towns/villages, 127 Km. of medium voltage (MV), 360 km. of low voltage (LV), and 72 transformation centres.

These contracts are included in the Global Rural Electrification Programme (GREP) that the Office National of L'Electricite (ONE) has been developing since 1996 and which it is estimated to end in 2007. For this time, the GREP will mean the electrification of more than 34.400 towns and villages that will give electricity to more than twelve million of citizens from rural areas in Morocco, with a total budget of approximately 1.818 million of euros. This electrification achievement will be 91 % by link to the national power network and 9 per cent by electrification through fotovoltaic equipment.

According to Alfonso González, Abeinsa's Chairman, "considering these new contracts, Inabensa Maroc will have electrified since its beginning in the GREP a total of 895 towns all over the Maghreb country, which turns us into one of the first companies into the national area into this sector". In addition Gónzalez adds, "we could say that our presence in the GREP is 100 per cent over all Morocco's territory, with an average of 1 town to electrify per day during the next eighteen months. Inabensa is helping to improve actively the quality of life of the Moroccans."
