Abengoa and Elecnor obtain a contract for more than 78 million dollars, in Mexico

Madrid, 22nd December 2003.- Abengoa, S. A./Abengoa México, S.A. and Elecnor have been awarded the international bidding contract by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to construct 400, 230, 138 and 115 kV Power Transmission Lines and Substations. The contract value is 78.2 million dollars.

The object of the Project is the execution of the works that are required to construct and install eleven power transmission lines with voltages of 230, 138 and 115 kV, over a total length of 395.6 kilometers and ten transformer substations with voltages of 400, 230, 138 and 115 kV and total output of 1,233.3 MVA, as well as twenty-nine feeders to be located in the states of Baja California, Coahuila, Chihuahua and Durango.

According to Salvador Martos Hinojosa, the person responsible for Latin America, "this contract demonstrates Abengoa's capacity to grow in new markets. We wish to thank the Federal Electricity Commission for the confidence it has shown in accepting our tender, as it has also done on other occasions over the past twelve months".

Abengoa México, which belongs to Abengoa's Industrial Engineering and Construction business unit, has just concluded another significant project for the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in Mexico, the enlargement to 450 MW of El Sauz Thermoelectric Combined Cycle Power Plant, and it has recently been awarded the contract to enlarge Hermosillo Thermoelectric Combined Cycle Power Plant.
