Abengoa has wide experience in water treatment plants and has built more than 120 plants in Spain, Africa and South America. Those include drinking water treatment as well as urban and industrial wastewater treatment and re-use by means of physic-chemical and biological processes, including sludge digestion and recovery.

Abengoa has a global production capacity of more than 2.2 M m³/day of drinking water, which means providing drinking water to a population of more than 11 million people. In treatment, Abengoa has the capacity to treat more than 1.5 million m³/d of wastewater, which would serve a population of more than 6.5 million people.
