Abengoa signs a desalination research partnership in Abu Dhabi

January 28, 2015

  • This research partnership is part of the pilot project that Abengoa is developing with the Masdar company

January 28, 2015 - Abengoa (MCE: ABG.B /NASDAQ: ABGB), the company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has recently signed a research partnership agreement with the Masdar Institute and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar company).

The objective of this research project is to optimize the technology of membrane distillation for the treatment of reverse osmosis brines. This pilot plant will have a capacity of producing 1,000 m3/d of desalted water using a hybrid system consisting in reverse osmosis in combination with an innovative membrane distillation system.

Abengoa, is a technology-driven global water company with a total water treatment capacity of over 5 Mm3/d all over the world, out of which 1.5 M m3/d are of water desalination, making Abengoa a global reference in the desalination market.
