Madrid, April 17, 2007 - Telvent, the global real-time information technologies company, has been awarded, through its Transport Division, a Prize for Business Excellence in the large company category, and for the Best Practices in Business Responsibility in the 2nd edition of the Castilla y León Management Excellence Awards. The prize-giving ceremony was held yesterday, Monday, April 16, in Valladolid.
These two prizes are in recognition of the competitive achievements and advantages attained by Telvent in the market based on a high level of management excellence. In addition, via the prize in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, the social and environmental commitment and concern of Telvent towards its partners is thereby acknowledged for the second consecutive year.
“We greatly appreciate the recognition we have received from the Regional Government of Castilla y León for the daily efforts and work we put into enhancing our management systems and competitiveness. We believe management excellence to be an obligatory commitment and also a responsibility of ours for the benefit of society and, for this very reason, we pursue the search for and application of methods and tools that allow us to rise successfully to the challenges of the existing market while maintaining our management efficiency standards”, said Telvent’s chairman and CEO, Mr. Manuel Sánchez Ortega.
The prize-giving ceremony was attended by representatives of different public institutions of Castilla y León, including, among others, the Department of Economy and Employment, the Department of Education, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Confederation of Business Associations. The Second Vice-president and Councilor for Economy and Employment of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, Tomas Villanueva Rodríguez, presented the trophy and diploma to Telvent Transport Division Chairman, Jose Montoya Pérez.
The objective of these prizes is to support the organizations that work continuously on improving their management systems as a means for rising to the challenges of competitiveness the current market demands of them. Following the success of the first edition of the awards, the Regional Government of Castile and Leon decided to organize, through the Investment and Services Agency of Castilla y León, the competition into six different categories that distinguish the work of companies in areas such as management of processes, people, social responsibility and business excellence (Small and Medium-Sized companies and large companies). Moreover, these prizes are aligned with the European Prize for Business Excellence organized by EFQM.
