Teyma Increases the Capacity of the Potabilización and Pumping Plant that Supplies Montevideo City

The Water Potability Plant of Aguas Corrientes, is the main plant of National Administration of Sanitary Works of the State (OSE) and it supplies to the city of Montevideo and its metropolitan area with a capacity of 600.000 m3/day assisting a population of 1.700.000 inhabitants.

The project that Teyma is executing consists on the works, supplies, assembly of electromechanical equipment, rehabilitation and amplification of local and treatment units in order to potentialize its production capacity.

From the most interesting aspects of the project we can underline:

  • Remodeling of ancient pumping room and assembly of three electro pumps of 2.100 KW each one for pumping drinking water and their accessories.
  • Supply and installation of suction and impulsion pipes outside of the pumps room and construction of connection chambers to deposit of filtered water.
  • Civil and electromechanical works for new transformation station of 20 MVA. Supply, lying and connection of the underground cables that will feed the new pumping equipment from the transformation station.
  • Supply, lying and connection of a new aerial transmission line of 30 KV.
  • Installation of instrumentation and control system for the operation of the existent pumping equipment.
  • Remodeling of the old sedimentary.
  • Executive projects of several sectors of the works (preponderantly civil works).

The Potability Plant of Aguas Corrientes was inaugurated in the year 1871 and since that, accompanied the growth and domestic evolution along so many years. It reaches after this important project a production capacity that corresponds to the population's growing demands.

Teyma, since its foundation, has been a very important actor in the evolution of the Plant of Aguas Corrientes participating actively in a large part of their projects of improvement.
