Hispasat Chooses Telvent as Terrestrial Node of Telecommunications

Madrid, 9 December 2003 - Abengoa, through Telvent, its Information Technology subsidiary, and leader in neutral housing services on the Iberian Peninsula, with over 150 customers, has been chosen by Hispasat to use its emblematic building Madrid 2 as terrestrial node of interchange of information traffic, which allows to obtain the best and more diverse output to Internet that exists in Spain due to the fact that in this Telvent building there are lodged the technological infrastructures of 46 telecommunications carriers and more than 100 companies of other sectors.

With this agreement, Hispasat manages to offer an excellent quality of Internet to all Spain. The rural zones or not urbanized zones have been the most benefited, where big companies especially from the construction and electrical sectors, they need to make big investments to access to its centralized information systems but with low quality. Additionally, this service opens new possibilities to the educational system because schools and local centers can access to Internet.

According to Manuel Sánchez, Telvent's Executive Officer, "Telvent has been chosen by Hispasat taking in account the capacity to access to Telvent's principal customers , the telecommunications operators already present at its building because Telvent is the principal Internet neutral node in Spain. This allows to get connectivity agreements in a fast and economic way. Beside this, the companies can be lodged and received the services of technological platforms management at Telvent centers, so that Hispasat manages to give a neutral and secure solution to all its customers".
