Abengoa has built a 50 million dollar hospital complex

It is a 13 storey building with 2 basements, 120 Interned Patient Rooms, 130 Medical Consultation Rooms and a total of 880 rooms that are put to different uses. There are 10 elevators, 2 goods elevators and 4 mechanical stairways. There is an emergency heliport on the building rooftop, on top of the water tanks. This new complex is connected to the existing hospital building by means of an underground tunnel and two bridges at different heights above street level.

The promoter of the hospital, Asociación Española Primera de Socorros Mutuos (AEPSM), was founded in September 1853 by a group of Spanish emigrants who, wishing to provide mutual assistance services, established a non profit-making organisation. With the passing of time, this type of organisation generated the so-called Collective Medical Assistance Institutions which, nowadays, provide health cover for some 55% of the population of Uruguay.

Teyma executed the civil works (indoor and outdoor structures, water supply system, sewerage system, etc.) and the supply of installations and services (medicinal gas services, TI system, air-conditioning system, public address system, monitoring system, etc.).

Number-wise, the works came to a total constructed surface area of 24,000 m2, with 4,500 m2 of exterior curtain wall lining executed, 5,000 m3 of concrete employed, 1,036 tons of metallic structure and a total of 7,000 kW of installed electric output.

Abengoa is an industrial and technology company listed on the Stock Exchange, with share capital exceeding 500 million euro (31/12/2002).
