Mr. Carlos Sebastián Gascón

Carlos Sebastián Gascón (Madrid, 1944) studied at the Universities of Madrid, Essex (UK) and London School of Economics. He is professor of Economics at the Madrid Complutense University since 1984. Outside of his academic life he has had a high position at Finance Ministry as Director General of Planning, he has been executive director of the Foundation for Applied Economic Studies (FEDEA) and adviser and director for several private companies. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Abengoa SA, Abengoa Bioenergía SA and Gesif SA. He is also a member of the Real Madrid Foundation's board and of the Financial Studies Foundation's Scientific Committee. He has authored a large number of articles and monographs on macroeconomics, labour economics, economic growth and institutional economics and is a frequent columnist in the economic news magazine Cinco Días.
