Abengoa Bioenergy is dedicated to the production and development of biofuels for transporation; bioethanol and biodiesel, among others, that utilize biomass (cereals, cellulosic biomass, oleaginous seeds) as a raw material. The biofuels are used in the production of ETBE (a gasoline additive) or in direct blends with gasoline or gas oil. As renewable sources of energy, biofuels reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to the security and diversity of the energy supply, reducing dependence on fossil fuels used in automobiles and collaborating in compliance with the Kyoto Protocol.

- The only producer of bioethanol present in the three key geographical areas: U.S., Europe and Brazil.
- An ambitious research plan: Research grants from the U.S. Department of Energy (87.5 million euros) and the European Union (33.5 million euros).
